Pre-Treatment

  • Hydration, Hydration, Hydration! Drinking water will allow the current to react properly in the follicle and damage the dermal papilla. It will usually make the treatment more tolerable as well.

  • If you can go without, no caffeine or alcohol the day of treatment. Not only will they dehydrate your skin, they may increase anxiety.

  • Exfoliate the area the day prior to treatment and moisturize the skin to help with probe insertion.

  • No retinol or glycolic acid at least 24 hours before treatment.

  • NO MORE TWEEZING OR WAXING in the area being treated. Shaving with a single blade razor is best if you are prone to ingrown hairs.

  • Let your hair grow in for about 3 days, an 1/8 of an inch or long enough to grab the hair with tweezers.

  • If you are sensitive, feel free to take tylenol 30 minutes before treatment.

Post-Treatment

  • Redness and swelling are normal after treatment and can last hours or in some cases days.

  • Apply ice if needed to reduce swelling.

  • Keep the area clean with soap and water, alcohol, witch hazel or an appropriate antiseptic.

  • No tanning or sunbathing for 48 hours.

  • No pools, hot tubs or lakes for 48 hours.

  • No makeup for 24 hours.

  • Pour sized scabs or pustules can occur. Clean appropriately and apply antibiotic cream if necessary.
